But no one ever told me what the rules were.
So. What are the rules? Have we made rules yet? Are we allowed to suggest rules? I know I'm being demanding, since this forum's been up for only a few hours, but whatever.
Okay, since I now am an admin, I'm going to suggest some basic rules, and you guys can agree or disagree.
1. Be literate, please. tlkin liek dis all the time is not cool, it's annoying.
2. No porn, pl0x. If you're going to post non-worksafe content, link to it and put a warning. We are not /b/.
3. Be nice. Respect
everyone's opinions, even if you disagree.
-3a. No goddamn shipwars!
4. Keep spamming to a minimum. We know that spamming is fun, we all love it too, but really do try to keep as on-topic as you can. We may make a spam thread if anyone wants it.
5. Have fun. This is by far the most important rule. Anyone caught being grumpy is going to get smacked by me personally.
6. Everyone is equal. Someone who has a thousand posts is no better than someone who only has one post. And if any of us catch you acting like you're better than another member, we will not hesitate to call you out on it.
Suggested punishments:
1 infraction of the rules: Warning by an admin or mod.
2 infractions: Probation, potential temporary ban.
3 infractions: Temporary ban, probably a week or two.
4 infractions: Longer temporary ban, one month or more.
5+ infractions: Permabanned.
Remember, these are subject to change, and they all depend upon the situation. If someone slips up and talks in chatspeak too much, we're not going to pounce on them and ban them, we're just going to remind them to please make a bit more of an effort to spell correctly. If someone technically only breaks one rule or only breaks the rules once, but really, really fucks up with it (linking to Last Resort, for example), then they're risking permabannation.
Also, question for the other admins: do you agree that the site content should be kept at about a PG-13 level, or do you think we should be more or less lax with content?
